Camping Cocktails – The Bloody Mary!
My brother-in-law makes a mean Bloody Mary! He is definitely our go-to guy when Bloody Marys are calling to us. Watching him create his masterpiece is a bit like watching a mad scientist – a bottle of this, a dash of that, a squeeze of this, a shot of that. (And maybe, just maybe, an extra shot of that if we’re lucky.)
He has mastered the perfect tangy-spicy-rich-flavorful-satisfying blend of wholesome goodness. Oh so satisfying! Yes, it’s true – there are definitely times we don’t stop with one Bloody Mary. His are that good! Just sayin’…
But there are times – particularly when we’re all out enjoying all the beauty Mother Nature has to offer when we’re out camping – that we don’t want to engage in a science experiment.
We want the easy button. We still want that delicious, tasty, bold, morning concoction known as a Bloody Mary, but we don’t want to work (or think) that hard.
I am not embarrassed to admit that we almost always turn to pre-made Bloody Mary Mix when we’re soaking up the great outdoors. In fact, I’d like to personally thank the geniuses who came up with the stuff!
And who can blame us? It’s as easy as 1. 2. 3.
How to Make a Fabulous Bloody Mary the Easy Way
- Start with a high-quality Bloody Mary Mix. This is pretty key to a great tasting Bloody Mary. I’m pretty sure we’ve tried every brand out there – some are great. Some are meh. And some taste just like cocktail sauce and all we could talk about is how we really wanted some shrimp to dip into it. Not good. My personal favorite is Mr. and Mrs. T Bold and Spicy Bloody Mary Mix (you can order a 6 pack here on Amazon if you want). It’s actually long on taste, short on price. Win-win!
- Add a shot (or perhaps 2) of whatever Vodka you like. We tend to bring the super duper huge one from Costco. Don’t judge us…
- Pour over ice and add a squeeze of lime and a dash of Tobasco. Mix well.
That’s it! Done in about 30 seconds! Easy peasy. You probably don’t even need to get out of your camp chair to pull it all together.
So next time that rich, bold, tomato-y, a little salty, a little spicy morning beverage (that I’m pretty sure counts for at least two servings of vegetables 😉 ) is calling your name, hit the easy button. Such a great way to start your day!

Camping Cocktails - Bloody Marys!
Ingredients
- 16 Ounces Bloody Mary Mix, We like Mr. & Mrs. T Bold and Spicy
- 4 Ounces Vodka, (Maybe just a wee bit more...)
- 4 Dashes Your favorite Hot Sauce, We like Tobasco
- 1 lime, Half to squeeze and half for garnish
- ice
Instructions
- Pour 8 oz. Bloody Mary mix into each glass over ice. Add 2 oz Vodka to each glass. Add a squeeze of fresh lime and a couple dashes of hot sauce. Mix well, sit back, and enjoy your morning!
