Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 white onion minced
  • 1 green bell pepper minced
  • 1 pound grass fed ground beef can use regular ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 quality hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large sauce pan over medium high heat. Add onion and pepper. Saute until the onion becomes translucent, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the onion mixture and cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is crumbly and no longer pink. Then add the minced garlic and cook one more minute.
  • Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, salt and pepper. Stir until well combined. Bring to a simmer and continue to simmer until the sauce is reduced to desired consistency, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Toast the buns (this is optional, but I highly recommend it). Top 1/2 of the toasted bun with 1/4 of the sloppy joes mix. Add additional toppings if desired. Put top of the bun on the sandwich and dig in.
