Spiked Peppermint Mocha Latte – A Great Party Drink
Starbucks made it famous. I made it exciting. I’m talking the classic wintertime favorite – The Peppermint Mocha Latte. But if you’re having a party (even if it’s just a party for yourself), it’s time to make it interesting. Announcing the Spiked Peppermint Mocha Latte! And trust me when I say it’s a real crowd-pleaser.
Holiday season is among us! And with that comes a whole slew of holiday parties. Yay!! If you’re hosting a party this year – whether it’s a small, intimate family gathering, or a whole crowd of people – you know that drinks can make or break a party. And I’ve got the drink for you – the Peppermint Mocha Latte Spiked with Spiced Rum. It doesn’t get much better than that, guys!
Just imagine your home filled with a hint of peppermint and mocha wafting through the air as your guests mingle about (probably near the drink table) laughing, talking, and having a great time. Yes, that’s what a great holiday party is all about!
I’m gonna make it super easy for you by showing you how to make this warm-you-up-from-the-inside-out festive drink in your Instant Pot! That way you can make it before your guests even get there and use that ever-convenient “Keep Warm” function so your guests can serve themselves whenever they’re in the mood for some holiday cheer.
But don’t worry if you don’ have an Instant Pot. You can make this exact same recipe on your cooktop over medium heat until warmed through, then just keep it warm in an insulated serving container or large electric percolator coffee pot. (But you really might want to consider getting yourself an Instant Pot to make your party prep tons easier! Here’s the one I have.) Love it!
Here’s How To Make The Spiked Peppermint Mocha Latte In Your Instant Pot
Add 4 cups very strong brewed coffee and 4 cups whole milk to the Instant Pot. Whisk in peppermint extract, sugar and cocoa powder. Secure lid and pressure cook for one minute. Let naturally release or do a slow release then open lid and add 1 1/2 (or 2) cups of Spiced Captain Morgan Rum. Stir well and leave pot on keep warm. Serve with wipped cream, crushed peppermint and mini candy canes. Enjoy the party!

Spiked Peppermint Mocha Latte - A Great Party Drink
Ingredients
- 4 cups brewed coffee, extra strong
- 4 cups Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
- 1 1/2 cups Spiced Rum
Instructions
- Add brewed coffee, milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and peppermint extract to the Instant Pot inner pot. Whisk very well, incorporating all of the cocoa powder into the liquid. Secure lid, turning the valve toward "sealing" and press pressure cook. Set the time for 1 minute.
- When the cooking time is complete, allow the pot to naturally release until all pressure is gone, or perform a "slow release." (Very gradually turn the release valve little by little until all of the pressure is released.) This will prevent liquid from coming through the release valve.
- Remove lid, scrape sides and stir. Add rum and stir thoroughly. Leave pot on Keep Warm and serve with whipped cream, crushed peppermint, and mini candy canes. Happy Holidays!
Hey there! Would you have any suggestions for subbing the spiced rum and coffee for Kahlua will work? Or, by “spiced rum”, are you thinking of something like Kahlua? I suppose that would mean that I should keep the recipe as-is. Thank you for your input 🙂
Thanks for your question, Katherine. I use Captain Morgan’s spiced rum. It’s a specific type of rum, but you could use any rum you like!
