Ham Rolls – Camping Food Made Easy
Memories are strange, aren’t they? Do you ever wonder why you might have a very clear memory of some random (even minor) childhood event, yet have no recollection of larger stepping stones in your life? I often wonder that. I’ve admitted before (in my homemade spaghetti sauce post) that I don’t have a ton of childhood memories, even though I had a really great childhood. But I do have a few very clear memories…. and one of them is of my mom serving these amazingly tasty, fun, filling and super easy to make Cream Cheese Ham Rolls.
My parents hosted a ton of parties when I was a kid – whether it was for Christmas, Easter, July 4th, corporate events, or when my dad ran for Mayor of Phoenix (yes, he really did. No, he didn’t win. And, yes, I definitely have memories of that! Interesting stuff… very interesting.) My mom did all the cooking for all the parties. No small task! She did it beautifully. These Cream Cheese Ham Rolls were a staple at the more casual affairs. Super easy to make, great finger food for standing room only gatherings, and always a crowd pleaser. Always.
Imagine smoky, salty, hearty slices of Black Forest ham smeared with a rich and flavorful cream cheese spread rolled up into neat little finger food packets of yumminess! And not only are they great for all of your casual gatherings, they’re particularly well-suited for outdoor and camping food! You can make one or one hundred in very short order. There’s absolutely no cooking and very little prep. They can be made in the nicest of RVs or in the smallest of tents. Yes, my friends, these cream cheese ham rolls might just be the perfect go-to for all your camping adventures!
How to Make Cream Cheese Ham Rolls – Right at Your Campsite!
- Blend whipped cream cheese together with some Worcestershire Sauce, thinly sliced green onions, salt and pepper (can do this ahead of time and bring in a zip top baggie. See full recipe below)
- Smear on sliced ham, going all the way to the edges
- Roll up each slice of ham and stack on a platter, seam side down
- Serve and enjoy! (It really doesn’t get much easier than that!)
Getting back to the topic of memories… many of my memories – childhood or otherwise – stem from food experiences. Maybe it’s just the way my brain is wired. Maybe it’s that way with most people. Whatever the case, take the time to make some great memories with your loved ones. The memories might just last a lifetime, and these Cream Cheese Ham Rolls take virtually no time to make. I’d call that a win-win!
Ham Rolls - Camping Food Made Easy
Ingredients
- 12 Ounces Whipped Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1 Teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Green Onions Finely Sliced
- 1 Pound Sliced Deli Ham, I prefer Black Forest
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
- Mix together cream cheese, Worcestershire Sauce, green onion, and a bit of salt and pepper to taste until well blended. Spread 1 tablespoon of cream cheese spread onto each slice of ham. Roll tightly and stack seam side down. Enjoy! Depending on the thickness of your ham and the number of slices in each pound, this will make 12-20 rolls.
Love everything I’ve seen from you. Eager to try some of your yummy stuff.
