Two of my favorite things come together with this one – Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts! My air fryer and my beloved Brussels sprouts.

I don’t typically go for frozen veggies when I cook, but when pressed for time, they’re a lifesaver. That’s why I do have my freezer stocked with lots of good-for-me veggies. We’re talking frozen green beans, broccoli, peas, and of course Brussels sprouts.

The Science Behind the Food

Following an anti-inflammatory diet is essential to my good health. So I pay particular attention to the foods I consume. The importance of putting the right food in your body cannot be overstated.

So here at The Spicy Apron, I try to always point out why these recipes are healthful. Brussels sprouts are truly a superfood. And air fryer frozen Brussels sprouts is one of the easiest air fryer recipes, so it’s a win-win!

Why are Brussels sprouts a superfood? Let me count the ways… Like all cruciferous vegetables, they are chock-full of antioxidants, which help protect your DNA from cell damage. This helps reduce the risk of cancer.

Brussels sprouts also contain phytonutrients that have very strong anti-inflammatory properties. Reducing chronic inflammation helps protect against heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and neurological disorders, among others.

Plus they are loaded with fiber, which is essential for maintaining the proper gut biome balance. The scientific evidence is now pretty overwhelming – a healthy gut microbiome balance (all those good and bad bacteria in your GI system) is critical to overall good health.

Have I given you enough reasons to grab that bag out of your freezer and make these tasty, good-for-you air fryer frozen Brussels sprouts? (My frozen shrimp in the air fryer is also a winner!)

Can You Put Frozen Vegetables In The Air Fryer?

I get this question all the time! Yes!! You can air fry frozen vegetables. No need to thaw them first! That’s why they’re such a great way to get veggies on your dinner table any night of the week. And frozen Brussels Sprouts work beautifully in the air fryer.

Some of my favorite air fryer frozen vegetables are these Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans and this Air Fryer Frozen Broccoli.

I also like that you can cook them however you like. If you want a little char (like I do), then add a minute or two to the cooking cycle. But if that’s not your style, remove them a minute or so early. You’ll get perfectly cooked air fryer frozen Brussels sprouts no matter your preference.

Ingredients in This Recipe

  • Frozen Brussels Sprouts – No need to thaw first. (See full recipe below for amounts.)
  • Olive Oil – I like the added health benefits and flavor that comes with a little olive oil.
  • Salt and Pepper – To taste.
  • Fresh Lemon Juice – Optional, but I like to give the air fried Brussels sprouts a little squeeze of fresh lemon after they are cooked. It adds pop and freshness.

How to Make Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts

  1. Toss the frozen sprouts with olive oil, salt and pepper. (See full recipe below for amounts and time.)
  2. Pour the seasoned Brussels sprouts into your air fryer basket and set the temperature to 390 degrees and the time to 15 minutes.
  3. Remove and shake the basket halfway through the cooking cycle to ensure even cooking.
  4. Check the sprouts after 15 minutes. Add a minute or two if you want more charring.
  5. Remove from the basket and add additional salt to taste and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Why Did My Brussels Sprouts Burn In The Air Fryer?

Different brands and models of air fryers cook differently. Kind of like ovens! So as you get to know your air fryer, you’ll begin to learn if yours runs a little hot or not quite as not as others.

You’ll get an idea of how quickly your sprouts are cooking when you shake the basket halfway through the cooking cycle. If they look like they’re pretty close to done, then check on them a couple of minutes early.

If your air fryer machine runs a little hot, then reduce the temperature by 5 degrees.

And if this is your first time making air fryer frozen Brussels sprouts then check on them a couple minutes early just in case your machine runs hot. Then put them back in if they need more cooking time.

Once you get a good understanding about how your specific air fryer runs, you’ll be able to dial in the exact time and temperature to get the exact results you want every time. I personally like some char!
